For the purpose of promoting the health, safety, morals and the general welfare of
the community, the Board of County Commissioners of Broward County, Florida, is hereby
authorized and empowered to adopt zoning and building regulations within Broward County
and to divide said territory into districts or zones and to regulate and restrict
the uses of lands, buildings and other structures for trade, industry, residence or
other purposes within said districts or zones, and to regulate and restrict the construction,
reconstruction, erection, alteration, repair, height, number of stories, size and
location of buildings and other structures within said districts or zones, and to
regulate and restrict the area, dimensions and the size of lots or tracts of land
or yards, and the percentage and portion of lots that may be occupied in connection
with the construction and location of buildings or other structures within said district
or zones.
