§ 9-92. Qualifications for a general engineered construction builder.
(a)
In order to be eligible to receive certification from the board as a general engineered construction builder, the applicant shall demonstrate possession of the art, ability, skill, experience, and scientific and general knowledge to plan, lay out, perform, and supervise all work and activities associated with and related to engineered construction. The applicant shall have no less than ten (10) years of practical engineered construction experience and shall demonstrate and possess the ability to perform, supervise, direct, and coordinate all work and activities in the engineered construction trades in such a manner as to comply with all plans and specifications of an engineered project, municipal permits, the building code, and all other applicable codes and regulations.
(b)
The scope of work of a general engineered construction builder shall be unlimited in the engineered construction field except that the general engineered construction builder's work in connection with utilities shall be considered to stop at a point five (5) feet from a building not specifically constructed for the purpose of pumping or processing pipeline products.
(c)
A person certified as a general engineered construction builder by the board may act as a qualifying agent for a business organization that engages in or performs, or that intends or desires to engage in or perform, any work or activity in the engineered construction field within Broward County, Florida.
(d)
A person or business organization that is issued a current active general engineered construction contractor's certificate of competency by the board shall, as long as certification is maintained, have the right to apply for and obtain permits from, and perform and supervise any work or activity in the engineered construction field in any municipality or unincorporated area within Broward County, Florida.
(e)
Any person or business organization certified as a general engineered construction builder by the board is authorized to perform the work of any specialty engineered construction builder.
(f)
The board may, in its sole discretion, consider formal education, government work, certification as a general builder, work for a registered professional engineer and work in a specialty engineered construction category or class as practical engineering experience.
