§ 1-86. Issuance of bonds authorized; requirements for bonds.

  • For the purpose of paying the cost of acquiring any lands under the provisions of this article for constructing any roads and bridges which may be necessary to provide accessibility to said lands and equipping same for recreational purposes, the board of county commissioners of the county is hereby authorized and empowered to issue negotiable bonds of said county. Such bonds may bear such date or dates, may mature at such time or times not exceeding thirty (30) years from their respective dates, may bear interest at such rate or rates not exceeding the maximum interest rate permitted by general law, may be of such denomination or denominations, may be in such form,

    may carry such registration privileges, may be made subject to such terms of redemption with or without premium, may be sold in such manner, upon such terms and at such time or times, and may be executed in such manner, all as may be prescribed by the resolution or resolutions adopted by said board of county commissioners authorizing the issuance thereof. Such bonds shall be payable from and be secured by all or such portion of the revenues derived from the facilities for account of which they are issued, and from all or such portion of the tax authorized to be levied by section 1-84, or both such tax and revenues, or any part thereof, as may be specified and provided in the resolution authorizing the issuance thereof, and the revenues or annual tax, or both such revenues and tax or any part thereof collected shall be held apart as a special fund and used for the payment of such interest and principal so long as any of such bonds remain outstanding. Provided, however, any such bonds which shall be payable in whole or in part from the tax authorized to be levied by section 1-84 shall be issued only after the same have been approved by the qualified electors in Broward County, at an election called and held in a manner provided in the constitution and statutes of the State of Florida.
