§ 20-167. Consumer Protection Board.

  • (a)

    There is hereby created and established a Broward County Consumer Protection Board ("Consumer Protection Board"), which shall be composed of eighteen (18) Broward County residents who are registered voters, and who shall be appointed by the Broward County Board of County Commissioners ("Board").

    (b)

    Each Broward County Commissioner shall nominate two (2) members to the Consumer Protection Board.

    (c)

    Each member shall serve in accordance with Section 1-233 of the Broward County Code of Ordinances ("Code") as follows:

    (1)

    Serve at the pleasure of the nominating County Commissioner; or

    (2)

    Serve until the expiration of the term of the nominating County Commissioner in accordance with Section 1-233 of the Code.

    (3)

    Each member shall volunteer to serve on at least four (4) hearing panels constituted under this chapter each calendar year. Failure of any member to volunteer to serve on at least four (4) hearing panels each calendar year shall be cause for that member's summary removal by that member's nominating County Commissioner or by vote of the Board.

    (d)

    The Consumer Protection Board shall have the powers and authority to elect such officers and promulgate such internal procedures and rules as may be necessary to conduct its business.

    (e)

    The Consumer Protection Board shall meet at least every quarter, as follows: March, May, September, and November.
