§ 9-15. Inactive or "not for contracting" certificates.

  • (a)

    All certificates of competency issued by the board shall be considered not for contracting unless an individual is certified and contracting as a sole proprietor or is a qualifying agent for a certified business organization. All such certificates shall be conspicuously marked with the words "not for contracting."

    (b)

    A not for contracting certificate shall entitle an individual to work in the trade or occupation for which such an individual is certified, but it shall not entitle such an individual to contract, subcontract, or obtain building permits from any municipality within Broward County or from Broward County.

    (c)

    A business organization that has become inactive for failure to have a qualifying agent or for not maintaining the standards and qualifications for certification may make written application to the board to request that its privilege to continue its activities be continued in accordance with the provisions of Subsection 9-13(b).

    (d)

    The term "contractor" shall not be used in connection with or on a not for contracting certificate of competency issued by the board. No individual shall act as a contractor in any trade or occupation regulated by this chapter unless a current, active certificate of competency has been issued by the board.
