§ 9-71. Scope of regulation.

  • (a)

    The Broward County Central Examining Board of General Construction Trades shall be responsible for examining, certifying, and regulating all persons and business organizations within Broward County, Florida, that engage in, or that intend or desire to engage in, any work or activity which relates to, is referred to, or which is included within, the building construction trades.

    (b)

    The building construction trades shall include the construction, repair, alteration, remodeling, addition to, subtraction from, improvement and demolition of any building or structure, including related improvements to real estate and excluding electrical, mechanical, plumbing and liquefied petroleum gas work relating thereto.

    (c)

    The board shall have and exercise all the powers and authority provided in this chapter to examine, certify and regulate all persons and business organizations within Broward County, Florida, that engage in, or that intend or desire to engage in, any work or activity which relates to, is referred to or which is included within, the building construction trades.

    (d)

    All persons and business organizations which are not exempted from certification by section 9-26 and who engage in, or who intend or desire to engage in, any work or activity which relates to, is referred to or which is included within, the building construction trades, shall, prior to engaging in any such work or activity, obtain a certificate of competency from the board.
