§ 9-113. Standards for LPG service and installation contractor.

  • (a)

    Any person who engages in or performs, or who desires or intends to engage in or perform, the installation, repair, or maintenance of liquefied petroleum gas piping or appliances may make application to the board for certification as an LPG service and installation contractor.

    (b)

    In order to be eligible to receive certification as an LPG service and installation contractor by the board, such applicant shall demonstrate possession of the experience, knowledge, skill, and ability to perform, plan, lay out, and supervise all work and activities associated with, performed, or done in connection with the LPG service and installation contractor category or class for which such applicant is seeking certification, all in compliance with the building code and other applicable codes and regulations. In addition, in order to be certified as an LPG service and installation contractor, such applicant shall have at least two (2) years of practical experience in the category.

    (c)

    A person certified as an LPG service and installation contractor by the board may act as qualifying agent for a business organization that engages in or performs, or that intends or desires to engage in or perform, any work or activity included within the LPG service and installation contractor category or class for which such applicant is certified.

    (d)

    A person or business organization that is issued a current active LPG service and installation contractor's certificate of competency by the board shall, as long as certification is maintained, have the right to apply for and obtain permits from, and perform and supervise any work or activity in the LPG service and installation contractor category or class for which it is certified by the board within any city or unincorporated area within Broward County, Florida.

    (e)

    The scope of work of an LPG service and installation contractor shall include and be limited to the installation, maintenance, repair, alteration, and extension of liquefied petroleum gas piping or appliances. Such LPG contractors shall not be required to subcontract minor, as defined by board rule, electrical, mechanical, or plumbing work as long as that work is within the scope of the license held by the contractor and when such work exclusively pertains to the installation of liquefied petroleum gas systems, as defined by board rule.
