§ 9-10. Recertification; continuing certification.

  • (a)

    All current certificates of competency issued between October 1, 1975, and November 2, 1976, by the Broward County Central Examining Board of Electricians, the Broward County Central Examining Board of Plumbers, and the Broward County Central Examining Board of General Contractors, which were created by Chapter 61-1959, Laws of Florida, 1961, shall remain in effect and be renewed by the board, unless revoked for cause or the certificate holder fails to apply for renewal as provided by this chapter.

    (b)

    All individuals previously certified by a municipality within Broward County or by Broward County may, in the sole discretion of the board, but based upon uniform standards, be eligible for certification without further examination by the board. The board shall, within ninety (90) days from the effective date of this chapter, notify by United States Mail all individuals who may be eligible for recertification or grandparenting, pursuant to the provisions of this section, of their possible eligibility for recertification or grandparenting. Any person previously denied certification or grandparenting by the board shall not be eligible to take advantage of the provisions of this section. Nothing contained in this section shall require or obligate the board to provide for or grant certification to any person not previously certified by the Central Examining Boards created by Chapter 61-1959, Laws of Florida, 1961.
